Our compassion for Kenya
We desire to make disciples by proclaiming the true Gospel, while meeting spiritual and physical needs in Kenya.
We are AFM Ministry Inc, a Christian public charity operating our mission as ‘Mercy Ministries’ in Kenya. Jeff & Stephanie Bys direct our missionary work locally in Kenya, where God has called them to serve.
In Kenya, with the partnership of many donors like you, we have formed a church, children’s home for at-risk and orphaned children, and a free school Pre-K-12th grade.
We also serve the widows and needy in our local community with food and material needs, sharing the love of Christ to all whom we are given opportunity.
The Bys Family
Jeff and Stephanie Bys and family are missionaries from North Texas, serving in Western Kenya
Jeff Bys pastors and leads Mercy Baptist Church that is operated on our Mercy Ministries campus. The Church meets in our multipurpose pavilion that sits between our primary school classrooms near the front entrance of our campus. We have a weekly prayer meeting and 2 services each Sunday.
Jeff & Stephanie Bys direct and lead Mercy Children’s Home which is home to over 100 children. The Bys family lives in the home raising the children as one big family. This was our first building, built in 2017, and by God’s grace we have been able to add many buildings to support the growing ministry work here.
We began Mercy Christian Academy in 2019 and MCA is 100% free for all students. We now have a high school on an adjoining campus. Our schools are open to the local village children who are not able to attend school due to their family situation. We have about 200 students coming from the villages near us.
As part of God’s calling to care for those around us we started meeting pressing needs. Before we even realized it, it had turned into its own ministry which we now call Village Outreach. We work towards meeting various medical, food, education, and housing needs in our village and those villages around us.

The Bys Family moved to Kenya and founded Mercy Ministries at the end of 2016.
We are located in Western Kenya, Bungoma County, Bumula Sub-county, Kaya Village.
100+ orphans and/or at-risk children living in the children’s home.
Staff of 60+ Kenyans that support the home, schools, and church.
4,215+ meals served every week.
11 monthly food boxes delivered to widows and elderly in the surrounding village.
290 students attending Mercy Christian Academy pre-k through 12th grade.
Large playground built to bring joy to children and for church outreach.
450+ church attendance each Sunday.
Partnered with Biblically sound local Kenyan pastors to form discipleship training throughout the region.
