Our Well Isn't Well

For the last several weeks we have been having water issues, as in constantly not having enough water to do all the things needed with water. At the same time we have also been having lots of issues with keeping power on. Since it is raining almost daily here we figured it was the lack of consistent power causing our issues not lack of water. However, we have had steady power for the last few days, but we are still getting dry taps several times throughout the day.

Yesterday we went to check on the well and we could tell the pump was trying to pump, but the water just wasn't there. Every 5 or 6 minutes water would start going into the tank for about 15 seconds and then it would stop again. It is now clear to us that we just use too much water for our 100ft deep well to keep up with our needs. Our well is almost 5 years old and we had it drilled before we had even started Mercy Home and there is no way we could have predicted the growth God had planned here. As many of you know, the last 5 years have been FULL of growth and unfortunately that means we have now outgrown our water well.

While I can't see the big picture, just the big need, I do want to share 1 blessing that we know will come of this besides more water. When we started drilling our well in December 2016 we didn't own land yet and so the well is not on our property. A few times since 2017 we've been threatened that the well would be taken from us and we would be without water. Thankfully our local government officials stepped in and made it clear that the well is ours and that it can't be taken from us. The well will remain ours and as long as it has water in it others in our village will be able to use it. Our new well will be drilled on our property and it will provide water for our whole campus including the new high school that is coming in April of 2022.

I don't have to understand all the water and power problems to know that He is in this. His plan is always better than mine and while I am of course stressed about the amount of money all these issues will cost, I know He will provide what we need. Will you please pray for the decisions that need to be made regarding our water (and power) situation? So many decisions, so much money, and all of this needs to happen quickly since we need water and lots of it. A company came out today and did some water mapping, they found water in our driveway and said it should not be deeper than 150 meters. Once we are able to drill and they hit water we will discuss pump options and the best way forward given how much water we use.

We have set up a fundraiser for an immediate need of $10,000, but we won't know the exact total until they actually hit water. We will adjust this total as we know more. To find out more information or to donate to this fundraiser specifically you can click here and it will take you to the correct page. Thank you for all of your prayer and support.
