Part of Our “WHY?”

Jeff posted the quote below from a book we recently added to our small, budding library. Sounds easy enough...education is the key to helping one have a better chance at breaking away from poverty. But I will tell you that running a school is anything but easy and it definitely isn't cheap. Trying to create and run a truly authentic Christian School is a whole different hard.

It is relatively cheap to educate 1 child at a time. At Mercy Christian Academy we have over 150 students that need sponsors. For $25 a month or $300 a year you can help a child in our small village have a better chance. And you might be thinking that we are already educating them so obviously we can afford it. Yes and no, yes we are educating them, but with more funding we could do a better job, we know in some areas we are missing the mark, yet we keep going and trying. With more funding we could hire more teachers, offer more resources, have a school manager, improve school facilities, and add a high school so we can continue the job set before us.

Can you help us continue to help them? It breaks down to less than $6 a week to educate a student in need. A student who would otherwise not be attending school because school isn't free here. A student who otherwise would skip several meals a week because they come from difficult backgrounds and extreme poverty. A student who would likely otherwise be destined for the same poverty they are currently living. This is an easy way for many to step in and fill in the gap. I know that I ask for a lot, but please hear my heart and know that I ask on the behalf of many who can't ask for themselves. 💜

**While MCA is on a 7 week break (due to generous donors) we are passing out a weekly food bag for each home to help ease the burden of all the extra food our sweet student consume. This is a huge blessing to the homes of our students!**
