A Few Needs

We have a couple of pressing needs at Mercy Home that we need help meeting.

We have about $1,400 in medical cost to finish off all of our sickness. Praise God we are finally on the mend and haven't had anyone in the hospital in at least a week! I think we have a few follow up tests to do, but we are definitely out of the thick of sickness and it feels so good to have our life back. Many days over the past few months just feel like a blur.

Benji was the last one in the hospital and thankfully he is feeling so much better!

A few days ago I posted on Facebook about needing to install our new gas water heaters. Doing this will cost us a decent amount of money because Karson will need to run new plumbing, purchase and install mixer taps, and buy several propane tanks. While this is an expensive upgrade for our home it is going to help us so much and allow us to have hot water consistently. Currently we use instant hot water showers heads (the electricity runs to the shower head) and they pull so much power and burn out often. Over the years we have had many electrical issues caused by these things and we haven't had all of them working in forever. Karson is estimating that this whole project will cost around $1200. If you follow along on Facebook you may have seen the first estimate was $600, but that was without the propane tanks (about $80), regulators, and hoses needed.

These are our current showerheads and they cause more problems than hot water the create.

These are our current showerheads which cause more problems than anything.

The last bigger current need we have right now is that our girls need new skirts. The easiest way to get those is to have them made by a local seamstress. Kenya has lots of fabric choices at reasonable prices and if we just needed 10 or 20 skirts I wouldn't even be asking for money, but with over 50 girls living here we need A LOT of skirts because they wear them daily. I'm estimating this need to be around $400 and that will make our sweet girls a lot of skirts.

Posting "smaller" needs like these on the blog is not my favorite because it isn't easy to update like Facebook is. However, not everyone is on Facebook where I do a lot of posting and updating and Facebook often suppresses my post when I ask for money 😂 so here we are!

If you haven't been to our website for a while you might want to give it a visit. We've been working hard on updating, rewording, and organizing things over there. All of our sponsorship photos have been updated so head on over and see how cute our children and students are! Thank you for being here and continuing to stand in the gap for these kids. Often times village life is a hard life and having others pray for them and help meet their needs is a HUGE blessing to them.
