Exciting News!

Hello everyone, we have exciting news! A donor has generously offered to match donations up to $12,500 towards the vehicle fundraiser Stephanie posted about last week. It is hard to express what a benefit this truck will be to our mission here in western Kenya, but I will put what Stephanie said about it below in case you missed it.

You can click here to donate and every donation will be matched, until we get to the goal of $12,500! Including what has already be donated (thank you to those who have already given!) that will get us to the $27,000 we are needing to purchase the type of vehicle we are hoping to get.

Here is what Stephanie had to say in a recent Facebook post:

This is definitely a “many hands make light work” need. I know the total goal is A LOT, however, together we can get this need met. We can (and will) look for a less expensive truck and try and “balance” cost/year/mileage/condition to get the best truck in our price range. I wanted to note a few reason why we view this expensive purchase as a need. Having a truck will…

•allow me to go to town without Jeff or Karson

•allow me to carry heavy things therefore allowing our trips to town to be more efficient

•allow the Bys family to travel together (in 2 vehicles cause big family ) comfortably

•will give us more space when picking up visitors from the airport (we have visitors landing tomorrow and in June, July, August, and hopefully many more months )

•be better for the village roads which we travel often

•will handle speed bumps much better, which are all over the Kenyan roadways

•will allow us to have a “backup” truck in case Karson’s truck is unavailable, currently his is parked at the airport because Jeff has a meeting in Nairobi tomorrow

It takes a lot of shopping to keep our church, home, and school fed. We are serving over 4,300 plates of food each WEEK . Of course we know that a vehicle cannot guarantee safety, we are still fully relying on God for that. However in the last 3 days, 2 people have been killed by vehicles (in our area) because so many people drive recklessly around here. We also know that getting a truck won’t solve all of our problems, but often we need to divide and conquer and if I always have to take Karson or Jeff to town with me the someone is being pulled from something. Please don’t let the “grand total“ make you think that you can’t help…it all helps, what may be small to you helps push closer to the end goal. Thank you a million times over for your continued support here, it impacts more lives in more ways than you can know! We are so very grateful!
