Ministry Report for February
February was another busy month here at the Mercy Ministries mission in western Kenya.
Wlifred Omukenya has been leading a Bible study in Nambale for several months with a desire to plant a church there. February 4th was the first Sunday service there. I was blessed to have been invited to worship our Lord with these folks on that special day. Soli Deo Gloria!
Phase I of our solar power project has been installed. This has been awesome because we are able to power the entire campus during daylight hours with solar only. Phase II begins this Wednesday, and should enable us to get through the night on battery backup, as well as stabilize the power that comes from the grid if we do need to use it.
Thanks to some generous donors, we are beginning work on a multi-purpose space for Mercy Christian Academy High School! This will be a covered area with a basketball court, dining area, and kitchen and will also serve as a conference hall/graduation center. The area has been cleared and leveled, and Jacob and Tanya Eaton will be coming later this month for a couple weeks to oversee the installation of the concrete pad. As you can imagine, this will require a lot of concrete!
February is the month that many in the world celebrate LOVE. The problem is, the way the world defines love can be much different than the way God defines love in His Word. Therefore, we spent the week of Valentine’s Day teaching the kids at Mercy Home and Mercy Christian Academy the differences between worldly love and Biblical love. We also decorated the dining hall/chapel center, gave out socks & underwear, had a special meal including cupcakes, and visited a local public school where we gave every student candy, school supplies, & Gospel tracts. We were able to give a new pair of "crocs" and a gently used pair of athletic shoes to the more than 200 MCA students that come from our village. To learn more about how to donate shoes, please click here.
I was able to attend a couple of our Mercy Baptist Church Friday Fellowships. Every week some of our church members and visitors gather at a different home to pray, sing, discuss the sermon from Sunday’s worship service, and share a meal or snack.
Thank you for your prayers and support! Our desire as a ministry is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ every day in our village. Being enabled to do acts of mercy aids in removing barriers to the Gospel. May God bless you!
